Kindergarten Spring Concert

My first elementary school concert! I was so nervous in front of the audience, I wasn't quite able to throw myself into performing like I wanted to, but I had fun out there with my classmates. And for sure I was the best dressed kid out there!

Yep, that's me there in the middle of the pack, so short I'm obscured by the heads of audience members, fellow classmates, props, and what have you. Reminds dad of when he was my age -- always lagging behind on the height curve! Dad turned out to be about average height (for an Asian kid, anyways), so there's still hope!

Even Nature Has Its Limits

A couple of weekends ago, on the first camping day of the season, dad and mom took us out to Pinckney State Recreation area for an overnight camping excursion. Some highlights of the trip – the transforming RV (the side extended out to make a eating area), wading at the lake shore (except for the bracken water off to the side that dad wouldn’t let us touch), s’mores at night, and bedtime stories in the tent. I hope we can go again soon!

When Isaac and I found out we were going to get to go camping, both of us immediately got very excited about sleeping in tents, building fires, and… peeing on trees… (and we did!). Actually, maybe we got a bit too caught up in the whole “peeing-on-trees-and-being-one-with-nature” thing, because the following week, daddy came home from school one day to find Isaac and I not bothering to step inside to use the toilet, but instead peeing on the side of the house… let’s just say he was none too pleased with us.

The weather has stayed beautiful outside, and with all the biking practice I’ve been getting, finally the bruises and scrapes are starting to pay off and now every day I get to ride home from school with mom walking James in the stroller. We have just enough time to make it home before we have to hop in the car and go pick up Isaac and Lillian from their preschool. I love riding my bike!

Belated Birthday

If you'll look at my dad's blog, you'll notice that some time ago he tried to post a birthday video for me, but accidentally deleted it. Well, finally, here it is -- my birthday party! Nothing terribly spectacular -- a few friends from church gathering together at a bowling alley for some pizza and ice cream (and presents, of course). I'd never been bowling before (come to think of it, I've never had a birthday party with friends before, either) -- it was a lot of fun!

My Two-Wheeler

A week or so ago, I learned how to ride a bike! And I hardly needed any help at all -- just a "here you go, Ethan -- try to ride without training wheels" and I was off to the races! Dad remembers learning how to ride a bike much the same way, although he was much older when he started (seven, in his case -- I figured it out when I was six!). Just kinda hopped on and off he went. Well, mom and dad have since bought a bigger bike for me, and you'd think I was born knowing how to ride with the way I can weave in and out and around objects with all the ease in the world! Mom even lets me ride to school (accompanying me with James in the stroller) -- I can't wait until she gets her own bike and we can ride together!
